WWF Hungary is seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic

Communications project coordinator
(full-time,
based in Budapest)

WWF Hungary´s mission is to build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. The conservation work focuses on protecting natural values, maintaining and restoring ecosystems in Hungary and encouraging sustainable development and a sustainable society.

WWF Hungary is an active member of WWF Danube-Carpathian Programme Office and contributes to environmental and sustainability goals that are relevant for the Danube River Basin and the Carpathian Region.                                                                                                                       

The Communications project coordinator contributes to WWF Hungary’s awareness raising, brand positioning and communication activities supporting conservation goals as a member of the Communications Department.

As a Communications project coordinator

Your duties will include:

A. Project coordination and implementation

Managing and leading a communication workpackage of a cross-boarder conservation project focusing on the Danube and its values

  • Oversee the project as a whole and prepare a communication strategy
  • Prepare a detailed workplan with all the activities and timelines
  • Manage external partners’ (like graphic designers, etc) work
  • Coordinate with project partners for implementation
  • Coordinate the work of the specific project within WWF Hungary staff, ensure that activities and dates are in line with other project communication and brand communication activities
  • Implement all relevant activities on a national level (drafting press release, organizing events, manage content on the website, etc)
  • Manage administrative tasks (writing reports, prepare media clippings, draft contracts, proposals, etc)

B. Manage project related communication activities

Support other conservation projects (including freshwater related projects, protection of forests and large carnivores) with coordination and implementation of communication activities

  • Map communication activities pre-planned to support certain projects and make a detailed timeline and workplan
  • Coordinate the implementation of the activities – involve the communications department members and manage the activities
  • Work closely together with relevant WWF Hungary staff members
  • Make sure that the activities are in line and timely harmonized with other project communication activities and brand communication goals

C. Be an active part of the Communications Department

  • Take part in general tasks like managing WWF Hungary owned media channels, translating international press releases, etc
  • Take part in planning of the overall communication strategy and detailed workplan on a yearly basis
  • Take part in planning and implementing communication activities to support brand positioning
  • Follow the information flow of WWF Network communications
  • Feed the network comms channels with relevant content about our national work
  • Participate in external meetings

We expect from you:

1. Knowledge (qualifications)

  • University or college degree in Communications, PR, Marketing or other related fields
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in communication project management
  • Fluent Hungarian and English
  • Excellent communication skills

2. Experience

  • Experience in relationship management
  • Experience in multi-tasking, managing parallel tasks with deadlines
  • Experience in negotiations
  • Experience in supervising a project team is an asset
  • Experience in EU funded project communication is an asset

3. Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills both in Hungarian and English
  • Excellent negotiation skills, relationship management and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to write coherent internal and external documents such as memos, press releases, articles
  • Ability to participate effectively in inter-disciplinary teams and to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external partners, efficient listening skills
  • Ability to work individually but also in a team
  • Efficiency in working style
  • Solution-oriented thinking
  • Precise and efficient in managing tasks and deadlines
  • Flexibility in personality
  • Open-minded
  • Interest and appetite for conservation and sustainability
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Windows operating systems; experience in using a variety of databases acquired through training and work experience
