WWF-Hungary is engaged with natural habitats of Europe-wide importance and large carnivore species, forest and freshwater conservation, sustainable development and climate change. As a member of the regional organisation WWF Central and Eastern Europe, WWF-Hungary contributes to securing Europe’s great natural treasures in the Danube-Carpathian region and makes people live in harmony with nature.

We are looking for a dynamic and committed seasoned professional to join as Climate Programme Manager, fostering our conservation work and the strategic positioning of WWF-Hungary as a highly impactful nature conservation organisation.

The jobholder will:

  • Support, steer and supervise the implementation of key climate mitigation and adaptation projects;
  • Support and steer project proposal developments related to climate and landscape-scale solutions;
  • Foster and steer overarching climate and landscape-scale approach, catalyze integrated projects and strengthen nature and climate nexus;
  • Participate in crosscutting climate policy work;
  • Coordinate, guide and support relevant team members;
  • Represent WWF Hungary towards external audiences including media appearances, and participate in high-level environmental and climate policy work;
  • Contribute to the preparation of the mid-term fundraising concept and pipeline with strong focus on EU funds;
  • Participate in the monitoring of the implementation of WWF-Hungary’s conservation and climate results;
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships along the climate and conservation goals.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Higher education – master’s degree in the field of natural sciences, natural resource management, climate mitigation, climate adaptation, sustainability or other related field;
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the management of activities in the field of environmental studies and/or climate and energy, natural resources management or sustainability;
  • Proven track record of managing internal and external stakeholder relations to influence and drive change;
  • Work experience with or in non-governmental organization;
  • Experience in EU project management and fundraising;
  • Experience in people management is a strong asset;
  • Experience of working in complex and/or international organisation is an asset;
  • Experience in environmental and/or climate policy is an asset;
  • Experience in creating strategies, work plans or performance monitoring systems is an asset.
