Digital communications officer (full-time, based in Budapest)

WWF Central and Eastern Europe is responsible for leading and to a significant extent implementing WWF’s efforts to preserve, restore and sustainably manage the natural values of the Danube-Carpathian ecoregion, which we also call the Green Heart of Europe. With a team of 160 highly specialised professionals, we are working across political borders through an ecoregional approach based on model projects, influencing policy, networking, capacity building, communication and crisis response.

The Digital communications officer contributes to WWF Hungary’s awareness raising, brand positioning and communication activities supporting conservation goals as a member of the Communications Team within the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Department.

As a Digital communications officer your duties will include:

A) Management of digital communication channels

  • Managing the WWF Hungary website and related project websites, coordinating the development of a new website
  • Planning, executing and evaluating strategy for content development to WWF Hungary’s social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, Viber and also blog and podcast
  • Preparing social media calendar for WWF HU’s channel portfolio
  • Creating social media content, articles, pictures and coordinating the creation of visuals
  • Translating international social media contents
  • Managing external partners’ (like graphic designers, etc) work
  • Cooperating with Communications and also Conservation colleagues and trainees, collecting content materials from the team
  • Working closely together with and supporting the relevant colleagues of the Individual Fundraising team
  • Developing new ideas on better social media activity
  • Coordinating the launch of new social media channels
  • Moderation of social channels, replying to mails, messages and comments
  • Organizing and executing the creation of visual contents, videos
  • Managing PPC advertisements and coordinating ad campaigns by managing external partners
  • Planning, editing and sending out newsletters
  • Coordinating influencer partnerships
  • Managing the further development of WWF Hungary’s mobile application, WWF Léptem
  • Managing administrative tasks (writing reports, draft contracts, proposals, etc)

B) Be an active part of the Communications team

  • Take part in planning of the overall communication strategy and detailed workplan on a yearly basis
  • Take part in planning and implementing communication activities to support brand positioning
  • Follow the information flow of WWF Network communications
  • Feed the network comms channels with relevant content about our national work
  • Participate in external meetings

Requirements:

  • University or college degree in relevant academic discipline as Communications, PR, Marketing or other related fields
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar position
  • Experience with website management and development
  • Experience with content management systems (WordPress) and email marketing services (Mailchimp)
  • Experience with mobile application management is an advantage but not a necessity
  • A creative and very pro-active attitude and personality with an ability to work independently, as well as in teams
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills both in Hungarian and English
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal communication
  • Precise and efficient in managing parallel tasks and deadlines
  • Solution-oriented thinking
  • Flexibility in personality and open-minded
  • Interest and appetite for conservation and sustainability
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Windows operating systems
